To build the inventive, real-world "magic" of Wes's hidden apartment, Director Tom Proctor turned to Margie Rogers, a veteran production designer, costumer and an accomplished director in her own right.
Working within an actual 15x15 storage unit, Rogers' team constructed a working doorway, a false wall of boxes that swung open to reveal Wes's secret space.
Rogers combines the visual tricks of film set construction with the nuts-and-bolts inginuity necessary for the compact location, incorporating everything from PVC pipe-sleeves to scuba gear.
